Alan Tate to lead Swansea City for Bristol Rovers friendly
Swansea City can confirm first-team coach Alan Tate will be in charge for Saturday’s friendly against Bristol Rovers.
Tate, 38, has been part of the senior coaching staff since 2019, following on from a distinguished playing career where he made 340 appearances for the Swans.
The former defender represented the club in all four divisions, and skippered the Swans in their first-ever Premier League game at Manchester City in 2011.
The Swansea stalwart will lead the side while the club seek to quickly appoint a successor to head coach Steve Cooper, who left the Liberty Stadium by mutual consent earlier this week.
Under-23s coach Anthony Wright has also temporarily joined the first-team staff, while Martin Davies continues as goalkeeping coach ahead of Martyn Margetson’s return to the club following his work with England at Euro 2020.
