Alan Sheehan | We totally deserved the win

Alan Sheehan was pleased with the way his side controlled the game with and without the ball after they defeated Queens Park Rangers 2-1 at MATRADE Loftus Road.

The Swans were good value for their fifth victory in a row, looking comfortable for the majority of the afternoon and taking a 2-0 lead thanks to an own goal from Morgan Fox and a close-range finish that was awarded to Harry Darling as he and Josh Key arrived at the far post.

Kader Dembele pulled a goal back for the R's, but the Swans looked assured in retaining their advantage through the remainder of the 90 minutes and eight minutes of stoppage time.

It means the Swans have won five league games in a row for the first time since 2007, equalling their best run of league form since winning nine in a row in 1999-2000.

And caretaker head coach Sheehan was understandably delighted.

"I am very happy," he said.

"For around 65 minutes I was delighted because we looked like a strong Championship team.

"We were totally in control, but then we slowed down a little bit, got a bit too comfortable and invited them on to us.

"We got punished, they score through their only real chance of the game.

"That meant we had to go into our defensive structure, but to fair we looked very comfortable within that, I don't think Lawrence (Vigouroux) has had a save to make.

"So, overall, it was very, very pleasing. We totally deserved it."

Sheehan also hailed the 1,733 travelling Jacks in a sold-out away end, who made their voices heard in roaring their team on to another three points.

"When you see a full away end going home happy, I think that is our remit," he added.

"That's some of my team talks done because they are coming because they like what they see.

"Five wins in a row is very special and that's what it is all about.

"We want to build something, we want to build that togetherness.

"To do that you need a team that has characteristics you can relate to.

"Some of the football we played was wonderful, and I am very happy for the fans and for the players."
