Alan Sheehan | We need to be ruthless
Alan Sheehan has urged Swansea City to find a ruthless edge in the final third when they host Preston North End at the Swansea.com Stadium tonight (7.45pm).
The caretaker head coach will remain in charge for the fixture against the Lilywhites, and the Boxing Day clash with Southampton.
Having taken four points from away assignments against Rotherham United and Stoke City, Sheehan then saw the Swans suffer a 2-1 defeat at home to Middlesbrough last time out.
But the Irishman felt the display against Boro was the best his side had shown since he was asked to lead the team, but just wants them to find the clinical touch in front of goal that could have ensured a different outcome last weekend.
“I want to win, that’s the way we are and the way I am," he said.
“There have not been enough wins at home, we know that and we need to do better at home.
“We need to get the fans onside and be more ruthless in the final third. That is the message.
“I liked a lot of what I saw the other day against Middlesbrough, but I just didn’t like the result.
“It’s a tough game, Preston will pose a different test again.
“I am expecting a difficult challenge, but we focus on ourselves. I believe we are getting there.
“There’s another gear to go and I think you saw a bit of that against Middlesbrough, now we have to try and move that on again.
“The work does not change in the building. We know what we want to do, the foundations we want to put in place and where we want to get to.
“That’s what the focus is on. How we can win this game and how we can hurt them.”
