Caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan says everyone at Swansea City has to take a long hard look in the mirror, and be prepared to come together to put in a performance that provides the best chance of picking up three valuable points against Blackburn Rovers.

The Irishman is in charge of the Swans following the departure of Luke Williams earlier this week.

Sheehan, who will be assisted by Martyn Margetson, Kris O’Leary and Anthony Wright, admitted it has been a difficult week for everyone connected with the club, and that the responsibility for the Swansea’s poor recent run of form is a collective one.

He has called on the squad, staff and supporters to come together to help get the Swans through a difficult period and start picking up points.

“It has been an incredibly difficult week for everybody associated with the club,” he said.

“Three good people have lost their jobs, and we all have to take responsibility for that and we have to try and put things right.

“We know the position is not acceptable for a club like this, it needs to change and we are all motivated to do so, we have to be.

“We need to find some positive energy, and we need the backing of everybody involved.

“In difficult times people pull together, and the staff have been exceptional in their support this week, as have the players in their attention to detail.

“It’s been a demanding week but we have to come together, we are in this position and have to get out of it, and we are the only ones who can get out of it.

“We know how deeply the supporters care about this club and how much they want to see us doing better.

“I would love for them to just come and get behind the players, which they always do, it just gives the players that extra per cent,” he said.

“The players feed off that energy in good and bad moments, they feel it. I understand we cannot please everybody, so we have to focus on our jobs, be disciplined and hopefully we can give them a performance to get behind.”
