Alan Sheehan | We have to keep our foot on the pedal
Alan Sheehan has urged Swansea City to keep their foot pressed to the pedal and maintain their momentum when they meet Hull City this afternoon (3pm).
The Swans host the relegation-threatened Tigers on the back of a run of three wins and three clean sheets in consecutive games.
That run, part of a wider sequence of 17 points from nine matches, has propelled Swansea into the top half of the Championship table with four games of the campaign remaining.
Caretaker head coach Sheehan can sense the feelgood factor brought about by that string of results, but knows how quickly that can ebb away if his team do not remain focused.
“I think we are in a positive place, so it’s beautiful to have that feeling,” he said.
“The aim has to be to keep it going. It’s a case of one game at a time, and Hull will be a difficult challenge with how they are doing and they will be battling for the points they need to stay in the division.
“They are coming to our place and we expect a difficult game. We have decent momentum, but we understand that can get taken away from you if you take it for granted.
“We have the challenge of finishing as high as we can, we need the group to believe in that and at the moment you can see a very good team.
“If we keep it going it means we will have got a whole lot right. We are where we are because of the values we have.
“But you cannot take it for granted, you have to hit those standards every time we go out on the pitch.
“We do not want to take our foot off the pedal, we want to continue our good run.
“This will be a tough test, we had a difficult game up there, Ruben (Selles) has done a good job there but we know we have a big crowd coming and we want to try and win another game.”
