Alan Sheehan has challenged Swansea City to take the positivity of their improved recent form into and channel it into their performance against play-off chasing Middlesbrough this afternoon.

Boro arrive in SA1 having won their last two games, arresting a sequence of five successive defeats and leaving them within two points of the top six.

The Swans, meanwhile, have been boosted by a win over Blackburn and a point against Preston, and have kept three clean sheets in their last four games.

And, having seen his side profit by taking the game to Rovers, before grinding out a gritty point at North End, caretaker head coach Sheehan wants to see his side marry up those qualities against the Teessiders.

“I’ve watched their last two games, they are a team with an enormous amount of quality,  they have been building that squad for a long time, they play a certain way and they look like they have found their mojo after a sticky spell,” he said.

“They beat Stoke 3-1, and in no way was that generous to them and how they played.

“We are expecting a very difficult challenge again, so it’s about finding and stopping the ways they can hurt you, but also about being the best version of ourselves and attacking the game.

“We want to go in to every game and be as positive as possible, and the place feels good at the moment.

“We need to keep the consistency and building foundations; and we are in the early stages of that.

“There’s no excuses, we had a long journey in the week but we are recovering well and we will be getting ourselves ready for the challenge.”
