Alan Sheehan to continue as head coach until end of season

Swansea City is pleased to announce that caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan will continue in his role until the end of the 2024-25 season.
Sheehan, who also had a temporary stint at the helm last season, has a total of 18 points from 12 interim games in charge of the Swans.
Having been asked to lead the side following Luke Williams’ departure last month, the Swans have taken seven points from a possible 15, including impressive wins over Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough.
Sheehan will be joined by two new additions to his coaching team in Mark Fotheringham and Richard Stearman.
They will work alongside Kris O'Leary and Martyn Margetson on the first team coaching staff and support Alan for the remainder of the campaign. Anthony Wright will return to focusing on his role with the club’s under-21s. The club would like to place on record its thanks to Anthony for his efforts in supporting the first team in recent weeks.
Director of Football, Richard Montague, said: “We're delighted Alan has agreed to lead the team for the rest of the season, and would like to extend a big welcome to Mark and Richard as they join our coaching staff in support of Alan.
“Both will aid us in our efforts to finish the season as strongly as possible, which is the full focus of everyone at the club at this moment.”
Fotheringham began his playing career with Celtic and later played for the likes of Dundee, Norwich City, Fulham, plus several other clubs across Scotland, England, Germany and Switzerland before hanging up his boots.
He went on to coach in Germany working as an assistant at Karlsruher SC and Ingolstadt, and held the same position under his old Fulham boss Felix Magath at Hertha Berlin. Fotheringham went on to manage Huddersfield Town at Championship level, and has most recently worked under Jurgen Klinsmann with the South Korea national team.
Stearman, meanwhile, started his professional career alongside Sheehan at Leicester City and went on to play for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Sheffield United and Derby County. In a career taking in just shy of 500 league appearances, he featured 77 times in the Premier League.
He has recently transitioned into coaching, and was serving as the assistant manager at Solihull Moors before joining the Swans.
Swansea City return to Championship action following the international break with a trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds United this weekend, before back-to-back home games against Derby County and Plymouth Argyle.
