Aimee Deacon has spoken of her pride after joining Swansea City Women on a semi-professional contract.

Deacon is the Swans third arrival of the summer ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, following goalkeeper Charlie Haynes and Maddy Murray.

The 16-year-old joins from Barry Town United Women, having netted five goals in her maiden Genero Adran Premier season last term.

Deacon also helped Barry Under-17s to the South Wales Women and Girls’ League Cup, scoring twice in the final as they beat Swansea City Under-17s 5-1.

The young forward has had a short trial with the Swans before signing terms, and she is eager to make the most of the opportunity.

“I’m really excited to be here, I’m excited for the new season with a new club, it’s a new challenge and I’m just looking to improve myself,” said Deacon.

“I think my first senior year went really well. It was a challenge, but I think I adapted quite well and hopefully I can grow from here.

“I’m really proud to be signing my first semi-professional contract, it’s something I never thought I would get, but I’m really proud to have come this far.

“I know I need to make the most of it. I always want to score goals and get assists, it’s one of my main drives and I want to help the team as best I can to chase for trophies this season.

“One of my key attributes is my pace, I like to drive at people one-on-one, and overall I just want to be a team player.”

The forward's move to the Swans see her join her brother Callum on the club's books, with the youngster part of the men's under-18 squad.

“It’s really good to be joining the same club as my brother, hopefully we can support each other, and he can show me the way. Our family are incredibly proud,” said Deacon.

“We’ve always been very competitive with each other, we used to play in the back garden and play against each other, and now we get to be part of the same club."
