Aimar Govea | We want to hit the ground running this season
Aimar Govea wants Swansea City Under-18s to hit the ground running and build on the 2-1 victory over Peterborough United that kicked off their season.
Thomas Woodward scored the opening goal of the afternoon when he finished from Govea's delivery shortly after the break.
The Ecuador youth international then bagged a goal of his own with a wonderful strike from outside the box with 11 minutes remaining.
And Govea – the brother of former Swan Jordi Govea – is determined to keep the momentum going.
“It’s always a good feeling to start the season off with a win. We’ve really pushed hard in pre-season and now we want to hit the ground running after this result," he said.
“It was amazing to get a goal for myself and to assist Woody [Thomas Woodward].
“Although I wasn’t around towards of last season as I was with Ecuador on international duty, I know the boys finished the season positively, and now we’ve continued that.
“We were disappointed to concede in the final stages, but that’s something we’ll discuss with the coaches, and we’ll work on it for next time.
“We’d love to have a good season, and we will aim for producing results every week. It’s just the beginning of the season, we’ve got a long way to go, but Saturday was a great way to kick it off."
