Late goals from Jay Fulton and Jordon Garrick saw Swansea City get back to winning ways against Huddersfield at the Liberty Stadium.

Andre Ayew had rewarded a dominant first-half display with a sharp close-range finish for his 13th goal of the season as the Swans led at the break.

The visitors improved after the break and levelled through Chris Willock.

But the Swans hit back decisively as Fulton headed in a corner a few minutes later, before Garrick raced on to Conor Gallagher’s pass to apply the finishing touch.

Head coach Steve Cooper had made four changes from the draw at Hull, with Joe Rodon, Ben Cabango, Aldo Kalulu and Rhian Brewster coming into the side.

The Swans nearly made a dream start, Kalulu producing a lovely piece of skill to beat his man and get to the byline, with Brewster’s far post header from the resulting cross being tipped over by Jonas Lossl.

The French winger soon made another excellent surge down the right, but his cross for Brewster was cut out on this occasion.

At the other end, Cabango made a fine block as Juninho Bacuna set his sights from just inside the area.

But the Swans were the ones on the front foot, hassling well without the ball and playing purposefully with it.

And they took the lead in the 28th minute and Kalulu was involved again.

Conor Gallagher and Brewster had shots blocked and the ball was worked wide to the winger whose fizzing cross was too hot for Lossl to handle and Ayew poked home.

Cabango threatened from a deep Matt Grimes corner, but saw his header blocked and could not adjust to get away a strike from the loose ball.

But Kalulu was proving the headline act, running on to a fantastic ball by Rodon to tee up Kyle Naughton, whose rasping drive struck the side-netting.

The Swans continued to push for a second, a lovely pass from Gallagher and fantastic first touch sending Brewster in on goal, but Lossl just about smothered the striker’s chipped finish.

The second half started in similar fashion, Kalulu flashing wide from a deflected Jake Bidwell cross.

Brewster then so nearly spun Richard Stearman from another intelligent Bidwell pass, while Karlan Grant worked Freddie Woodman at the other end.

Just past the hour mark Kalulu’s afternoon came to an early end after he received treatment, with Garrick taking his place.

But the momentum was starting to shift in Huddersfield’s favour, as the Terriers committed more men forward and the Swans dropped deep in defence.

Stearman headed straight at Woodman, before the keeper tipped Karlan Grant’s header over the bar.

But the keeper could not keep out Willock’s angled drive from the left side of the area after the hosts had been unable to alleviate an extended spell of pressure.

However, parity did not last long as Fulton timed his jump perfectly to meet a Grimes corner and head the ball into an unguarded net after Lossl failed to reach the delivery having left his line.

And Garrick made the points safe as Gallagher’s through ball allowed the substitute to round Lossl and find the net.
