Glory Nzingo

Swansea City Under-21s made it three wins in a row after a Kyrell Wilson brace and a Glory Nzingo strike secured victory over Peterborough United.

Nzingo opened the scoring just after the 15-minute mark, slotting the ball through the legs of Will Blackmore in the Posh net.

The Swans' lead lasted a mere minute as Pemi Aderoju tapped home immediately after the restart.

However, substitute Wilson made no mistake to find the net twice in the closing stages, getting back on the scoresheet following his recent return from four months on the sidelines.

There were two changes to the Swansea side that had claimed a 4-0 victory over Fleetwood Town last time out. Josh Carey and Joe Thomas returned the the starting line-up following injury, whilst Sebastian Dabrowski missed out.

The Swans made a lively start in blustery conditions. Kian Jenkins' ambitious 45-yard strike looked to catch out the keeper in the swirling wind, but it flew over the bar.

But the Swans were soon on the front foot again. Nzingo raced onto a through ball, and slid a strike through the legs of the advancing Blackmore for the opener.

It didn't take Posh long to respond, Donay O'Brien-Brady saw his initial effort loop up in the air from a deflection, but Aderoju was there to hook home the rebound.

The home side came forward again with Andre Changunda causing trouble down the left. He sent in an inch-perfect delivery for Harley Mills, but the latter's shot was superbly tipped over the crossbar by Swansea keeper Evan Watts.

At the other end, Charlie Veevers saw a shot deflected over the bar following an excellent move involving Joel Cotterill, while Veevers then forced Blackmore into a fine save as he got to his right to push away a long-range strike.

Ben Lloyd had an effort ruled out for offside just before the break as the visitors ended the half on top.

The second period started as the the first half had finished, with more disallowed goals.

Posh goalscorer Aderoju had the ball in the back of the net but the assistant referee had his flag up and the goal was chalked off for offside, while Maliq Cadogan saw his effort ruled out for a handball in the build-up.

Carey was next to go close for the visitors, the midfielder tried his luck from distance but his strike went wide of the near post.

Peterborough responded with a spell of pressure on the hour mark. Watts pulled off a strong save to keep out Mills' free-kick, before Aderoju headed wide.

Cameron Congreve and Wilson were introduced in place of Filip Lissah and Nzingo, and Wilson was quickly into the thick of the action as he forced Blackmore into yet another save.

The game was sweeping from end to end, and Mills rattled the post from Aderoju's pass.

But it was the Swans who regained the lead, as Wilson produced a neat finish from just inside the penalty area.

Lloyd then dragged wide after a fine counter-attack as the visitors looked to wrap up the three points, and they did so when Wilson held off the attentions of the covering defenders to fire home from another rapid transition.
