Second-half goals from Jerry Yates, Ollie Cooper and Josh Key – plus a vital save from Carl Rushworth – helped Swansea City come from behind to record a fourth Championship win in a row.

Plymouth Argyle had led at the break at Home Park through Luke Cundle’s strike, but Michael Duff’s side showed great character and desire to fight back after the break.

Yates bundled in from close range after Liam Cullen had headed across goal, before Rushworth made a vital stop to deny Bali Mumba.

And the Swans made the most of the keeper’s efforts by sealing the three points as Cooper – with his first touch seconds after being introduced as a substitute – fired an unstoppable drive into the net from distance.

Former Exeter man Key then rounded the afternoon off by converting his first Swansea goal from a magnificent Jamie Paterson pass in the final moments of the 90 minutes.

It means Duff and his squad head into the international break having taken 13 points from the last 15 available, following another frenetic contest to follow the breathless midweek win over Norwich.

The Swans had shown one change from the midweek win over Norwich as Josh Tymon came in for the injured Ben Cabango, with Bashir Humphreys moving to centre-half.

The visitors controlled possession during the early exchanges, although they were given a warning when Cullen cleared a Joe Edwards header off the line at the far post, just after Humphreys had cut out a Mumba cross.

Swansea swept straight up the other end, Cullen picking out Yates in the middle, only for Conor Hazard in the Plymouth goal to smother the striker’s attempted backheel.

The hosts threatened again, Tymon getting in on the overlap down the left and rolling an inviting ball along the six-yard box, but no white shirts were on hand to apply the finishing touch.

Instead, it was the home side who took the lead. Ryan Hardie got into space down the right and his cross was half-cleared to the edge of the area, where Cundle ran on to it and swept a strike beyond the grasp of Rushworth.

Swansea almost hit back immediately, Yates just unable to take in a pass from Matt Grimes that would have had him in on goal.

Grimes was soon involved again, but at the other end, he and Key making important clearances to prevent a pair of Mumba crosses reaching waiting green shirts.

Swansea lifted the pressure and responded with an excellent attack, which was launched by Charlie Patino getting out of bother near his own box.

The visitors had a three on two advantage at one point, but Yates eventually found Cullen, whose low effort forced Hazard into a fingertip save.

Darling then made a brilliant block to deny Hardie, after the forward’s initial effort was saved by Rushworth.

Yates had an effort blocked after a Paterson cross had fallen for him as the Swans trailed at the interval.

They started the second half well, however, Jamal Lowe getting into space down the left before Paterson won a corner that Darling could not quite turn in at the far post.

Plymouth hit back, Rushworth palming over a rising effort from Hardie.

Cullen then had two shots blocked after Patino had tried to pick his way through on the edge of the area.

But the striker would play a key role in Swansea’s equaliser in the 56th minute.

Paterson hung a cross up at the far post and Cullen did brilliantly to meet it almost on the byline and send it back across goal, where Yates was on hand to turn in his fourth goal of the season.

Cullen nearly had another assist seconds later, getting in down the left to deliver a beauty of a cross, and only a fortunate block prevented Yates heading in.

Rushworth then came to Swansea’s rescue to deny Mumba after a rare moment of indecision in the defence.

And the Swans made the most of that save by taking the lead through Cooper. The midfielder had only just come on when he received the ball, drove forward, and arrowed a right-footed strike across the keeper and into the corner of the net.

Key had appeals for a penalty waved away a couple of minutes later, despite his cut-back clearly being diverted by a Plymouth hand near the byline.

Lowe nearly added a third only for a deflection to send his shot wide, while Darling headed the resulting corner straight at Hazard.

Paterson also wasted a huge chance, firing over from Jay Fulton's pull-back.

But the midfielder soon helped Swansea seal the win as Key finished from a brilliant Paterson pass in the final minute of the 90.
