Charlie Patino's stoppage-time equaliser secured a point for Swansea City against Huddersfield Town at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The Swans had looked to be heading for defeat after Ben Cabango's unfortunate own goal had the Terriers in the lead from the third minute.

Michael Duff's side had pressed and pressed in search of a leveller with Jay Fulton, Cabango, Harry Darling and Yannick Bolasie all having chances.

But it was substitute Patino who found the net as his effort from outside the box snuck inside the far post in the third of six added minutes.

The hosts had shown three changes from the defeat at Leeds as Kyle Naughton, Liam Walsh and Liam Cullen came into the team, with Josh Key, Ollie Cooper andYates dropping to the bench.

The Swans endured a nightmare start as they conceded the opener with just over two minutes on the clock.

A loose pass in midfield was seized on by Jaheim Headley, who broke away down the Huddersfield left.

His cross was met by Cabango, but the defender’s attempted clearance sliced up and over Carl Rushworth and into the far corner of the net.

The hosts sought a quick response, Jamie Paterson having a cross picked off by Terriers keeper Chris Maxwell, and saw plenty of the ball as the visitors opted to sit deep and try and soak up the pressure.

Cabango had a great chance to level matters in the 18th minute, arriving onto a Walsh corner for a free header which he put over the bar.

Naughton then had a cross deflected behind the supporting white shirts after nice intricate work by Walsh outside the box.

Paterson nearly picked out Lowe fine a fizzing cross from the left, before the midfielder saw a left-footed effort blocked away for a corner.

Cabango had a header blocked from the resulting Josh Tymon delivery, with Walsh unable to connect with the rebound.

Maxwell then held a firm strike from distance by Walsh, while Rushworth hauled in a Sorba Thomas free-kick as half-time neared.

The Swans best chance yet came six minutes before the break, slick work from Paterson laying the ball into the path of Fulton, but Maxwell blocked the Scot’s lofted effort as he raced off his line to preserve the visitors’ lead.

Rushworth held a Tom Lees header right on the half-time whistle, with Duff making a trio of changes at the break as Harry Darling, Yannick Bolasie and Jerry Yates came on for Naughton, Bashir Humphreys and Cullen respectively.

Bolasie nearly made an immediate impact, getting into space down the left and nearly finding Yates in the middle.

Michal Helik then bundled Yates out the way after the forward had intercepted Yuta Nakayama’s loose pass on the edge of his own penalty area and looked to be in on goal.

Bolasie then showed tremendous touch to bring down a raking pass and crash a volley over the bar, with the new addition bringing real energy and zip in the final third.

The forward then flashed in a deep cross that Lowe nearly got in on the end of at the far post.

Swansea nearly levelled through an own goal, with Matty Pearson left to breathe a sigh of relief when Lowe’s drilled pass rebounded off him but fell straight into Maxwell’s gloves.

Bolasie continued to look a threat, sending a scudding low drive wide of the left-hand upright, while Darling headed a Walsh corner over the bar.

It was almost attack v defence as the hosts continued to press, and Darling had his head in his hands after his swerving drive was just about put over his own bar by Maxwell.

Patino and Josh Key came on for the closing stages with Patino sending a rising effort over the bar, before finding his range in the final moments to secure a point.
