Swansea City extended their unbeaten home run to six matches after playing out a goalless draw against new Championship leaders Bournemouth at the Liberty Stadium.

The second-leading scorers in the division, Bournemouth arrived in SA1 with their tally of 29 only bettered by Blackburn Rovers.

However, they were unable to find a way past the stubborn Swans, who maintained their record as boasting the best defence in the Championship.

The visitors, who moved to the summit of the table, had the better chances of the two sides, with David Brooks and Junior Stanislas going closest to scoring.

But the fourth-placed Swans held firm with a second clean sheet in the space of three days moving them onto 30 points from 17 games.

Steve Cooper made two changes to the side that beat Luton Town 2-0 at the Liberty on Saturday.

Joel Latibeaudiere was handed his first start as he replaced Marc Guehi, who missed out after suffering a head injury in the win over the Hatters.

The other alteration saw Jamal Lowe preferred to Liam Cullen in attack.

Bournemouth had scored in each of their last six games and went straight onto the attack, with Adam Smith firing a volley over following a lengthy spell of possession for the visitors.

Stanislas - the visitors' only change from their 4-0 win at Barnsley last time out - also had an opportunity soon after.

The in-form winger had netted four goals in as many games coming into this one, but bent a shot just wide of the far post.

Cherries top scorer Dominic Solanke saw the best chance of the first half fall his way in the 18th minute.

The six-goal striker, who had netted in each of his side's previous two away from home, raced onto Brooks' through ball, but fired over from a tight angle under pressure from Latibeaudiere.

Brooks was then presented with a great opportunity three minutes later following a mistake by Freddie Woodman, who atoned for his error with a smart save.

At the other end, the Swans' first clear sight on goal fell to Lowe as he cleverly skipped away from a challenge before darting towards the edge of the area, where his curling shot was held by Asmir Begovic.

Bournemouth continued to threaten and Lewis Cook saw his ferocious 30-yard drive whistle just wide of the far post.

The hosts then had a penalty appeal waved away by referee Peter Bankes after Lowe's shot appeared to strike the arm of a Bournemouth defender.

Yan Dhanda Bournemouth

Stanislas wasted a golden opportunity to break the deadlock three minutes into the second half, dragging a volley wide after the Swans failed to deal with a cross from the right.

Yan Dhanda went close at the other end in the 57th minute; hitting the side-netting with a low shot from a tight angle.

Both sides turned to the bench as they sought the opening goal of the contest.

Viktor Gyokeres and Kasey Palmer were introduced by the hosts, while ex-Swan Sam Surridge was sent on by Jason Tindall for the visitors.

But neither side could find the breakthrough as the Swans claimed a hard-earned point
