Walking Football
Walking Football
Walking football is an excellent way of staying physically fit and healthy. Also, if you’re recovering from an injury or operation – walking football is a great way of re-introducing your body to movement.
The all-inclusive sport allows you to improve your health and wellbeing by offering you the opportunity to engage in physical activity in a social environment.
There are also substantial mental health benefits. We all have mental health just as we all have physical health – and they are interconnected. There is widely published evidence to support the fact that physical activity boosts mental wellbeing – just 10 minutes of brisk walking increases mental alertness, energy, and mood. Participating in regular physical activity improves self-esteem while reducing stress and anxiety. There are benefits to both body and mind.
Then there’s the social side – walking football offers a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and have some fun. The friendship and camaraderie that playing the sport together provides are so integral to your wellbeing, as social connections are vital at any life stage. A walking football session offers you the opportunity to meet new, like-minded people in a friendly and inclusive setting. From sharing some banter on the pitch to catching up over a coffee, it’s social from start to finish.
Walking football is reognised by the Football Association of Wales as an inclusive format of the game. Primarily (but not exclusively) aimed at those over 50, it offers the opportunity to maximise participation for all groups and to encourage sustained participation for players of all abilities.
The weekly sessions provide a great opportunity to play football and socialise with others in a pressure-free, relaxed environment.
