Steve Cooper | We want to rise to the challenge
Steve Cooper believes Swansea City’s mentality will have to be spot on in what he expects to be a stern test at Charlton tonight (7.45pm).
The Championship clash at The Valley pits together the sides who were second and sixth in the table prior to this midweek round of fixtures.
Swansea are unbeaten on their travels this season, taking points off the likes of Leeds and Bristol City in the process.
But they face a Charlton outfit boasting an excellent home record of just one defeat in 22 league games in south-east London.
Time will tell if something has to give when it comes to those respective sequences of results, but head coach Cooper is in no doubt as to what will be required against Lee Bowyer’s Addicks.
“You have to be impressed by what Lee has done, I have a lot of respect for him and he has got everybody behind him,” said Cooper.
“The games I have seen, they have been committed to giving their all and they have been in all of them even though they had lost a couple prior to the weekend.
“They have been games that could go either way, so they are always competitive and play a formation that can be dangerous in its general set-up.
“But this year, as much as we want to be an attractive team, we want to make sure we have got a good mentality as well and that we can rise to the challenges we come up against.
“This will certainly be one of them.
“It’s a stadium where they get behind the team, but we are really looking forward to playing under the lights there.”
