Clement's influence key behind Mesa move
New Swansea City signing Roque Mesa pointed to Paul Clement’s style as a big factor in his decision to join the club.
The 28-year-old today became Clement’s third summer signing after completing an £11million move from La Liga club Las Palmas.
The midfielder is well versed on his new manager, who assisted Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid when the Spanish giants won a 10th Champions League title in 2014.
And he revealed the progress Swansea have made under Clement since his appointment in January helped convince him to move to Wales.
“I’m very happy to be here. It’s a new challenge and a new adventure,” said Roque Mesa, who has signed a four-year contract at the Liberty.
“One of the main reasons I had to be here was that the manager wanted me - that’s a great incentive. I felt I needed a new experience and a new challenge.
“The manager knows me, he knows how I play and what I can contribute to the team. I’ll try to make the team play.
“I know he’s like Ancelotti - he likes to play and wants to create a different Premier League team which likes to play. The manager is a person who knows how to play and that’s something I really like.”
